The tire manufacturer Goodyear has combined its products and services into an all-round, worry-free package. The “Tires-as-a-Service” solution provided as a subscription includes premium tires, predictive information and services. Goodyear wants to use this as a basis to offer its customers a complete service based on Goodyear Total Mobility.
“Our Tires-as-a-Service offering is a further development of our Goodyear Total Mobility mobility concept for customers who need a complete service for their tire management. It combines our products, services and solutions into a comprehensive, all-round, worry-free package based on a subscription,” says Gregory Boucharlat, Vice President, Goodyear Tires-as-a-Service. “We have shown that this solution can unlock previously untapped potential and we look forward to opening up this opportunity to other customers.”
For trucks and vans
According to Goodyear, the offer is aimed at both commercial truck fleets and last-mile van fleets. By outsourcing tire management and using the new, subscription-based solution, customers should save time and reduce their total cost of ownership. At the same time, the solution can help increase fleet availability, reduce the number of tire-related vehicle breakdowns and reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, according to Goodyear.
In a pilot project in a commercial vehicle fleet, the solution was able to reduce the number of tire-related vehicle failures by around 50 percent, according to Goodyear. It also helped to reduce fleet fuel consumption by up to 4 percent compared to the previous year.
In another pilot project with a last-mile delivery van fleet in the United States, Goodyear says the Tires-as-a-Service solution helped lower total cost of ownership, reduce tire-related vehicle failures by around 80 percent, and reduce the company’s tire inventory by 100 percent.
Key features of the mileage-based subscription include:
- Premium tires from Goodyear. Equipped with intelligent tire technology, customers can gain proactive insights.
- Continuous tire monitoring around the clock and data collection on each tire.
- Proactive alert management and service coordination.
- “Halo Tire Inflator”, an energy-autonomous, automatic tire pressure control system that is installed at suitable wheel positions (in exclusive cooperation with Aperia Technologies).
- Access to Goodyear’s TruckForce service network. Customers receive support from technicians whenever necessary.
