In an interview with Total News, Ali Bastin said, the first specialized exhibition of Iran’s marine and maritime industries will be held from 2 to 5 January 2023 at the permanent location of international exhibitions in Bushehr.
Bushehr Governor’s Deputy Economic Affairs Coordinator added, one of the goals of this exhibition is to coordinate supply and demand in the fields of marine and maritime industries. This exhibition will be the most comprehensive national trade gathering in the field of marine economics, which includes all aspects of shipbuilding, ship repairs, marine engineering, offshore engineering and technologies, port dredging equipment and marine services.
He continued, Bushehr has 934 km of coastline and 707 km of sea border and has the longest border with the Persian Gulf. Also, 54% of the maritime border of the Persian Gulf is located in Bushehr province, which has provided many opportunities for the development and progress of Bushehr province.
Bastin stated, unfortunately, the general policies of the strategic and macro view, as well as the lack of use of the capacities, have caused the sea-oriented development to not take place.
Bushehr Governor’s Deputy Economic Affairs Coordinator stated that sea-oriented development is a very important issue that the leadership announced, and emphasized, by establishing a secretariat in the maritime field and strengthening supervision, we will try to introduce the capacity to turn on the driving engine in this sector.
He stated, with the aim of maximum utilization of the marine and coastal capacities, plans are being prepared in parallel and in addition to the sea-oriented development of the country, so that these capacities are fully and appropriately utilized.
Bastin said, in the countries that have used the advantage of the sea well, the gross domestic product in the field of maritime economy is more than 50%, which is set to be twice the current perspective in the next 10 years based on the country’s sea-oriented development document.
Referring to the use of modern technology in the fisheries industry, especially aquaculture, the Bushehr Governor’s Deputy Economic Affairs Coordinator added, with the plans made, we hope to harvest 65,000 tons of fish in the sea in the next four years, and also to expand shrimp farming in the coastal area.
He considered it important to use the capacity of professionals in the sea sector to take steps in the development of the fishing industry and added, increasing the use of this capacity can lead to economic growth, improve living conditions and create employment, and ultimately increase GDP as a sea-oriented economy.
Bastin clarified, in order to support trade and commerce in Bushehr and the Tahlanji issue, follow-ups have been carried out by the provincial officials at the national level.
Bushehr Governor’s Deputy Economic Affairs Coordinator added, without a doubt, the Bushehr-Shiraz railway is not only the transportation axis of these two provinces, but also the axis of connecting all the provinces of the country to the Persian Gulf, and it can have many economic benefits for the whole country.
He considered Bushehr-Shiraz freeway as an opportunity for tourism boom and as a result economic boom and stated, considering the connection of the North Sea with the South of the country through the corridor created in the said freeway, we will witness a big and fundamental change in the volume and type of economic exchanges.
