According to Total News, referring to the role of sanctions on the transportation industry, Abazar Barari said, in recent years, the conditions for the country’s international transportation fleet have become somewhat more difficult. Sanctions have directly and indirectly affected the lucrative transportation industry. Indirect methods have had more destructive and long-lasting effects; because the infrastructure of the transport fleet, both road and port, as well as customs, cannot be developed due to the lack of liquidity. These cases make economic actors in the field of international transportation go through and experience difficult and complicated conditions. For example, we can mention the restrictions on issuing visas to Europe for Iranian drivers, which have been intensified in the last few months.
Referring to the need to develop communication corridors and international crossings of the country, he said, North-South corridor is a strategic and important passage for the countries on the way of this corridor, i.e. Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan and India, as well as the countries bordering this corridor and it can play a role in countries benefiting from the positive economic effects of this corridor. When the transport companies can encourage and lead the beneficiaries to use the corridor if they have the mentality that the chosen route is a desirable route in terms of speed, accuracy and quality, otherwise, it will not be usable and will not have the required efficiency.
The Deputy of International Affairs of the Transport and Logistics Federation of Iran considered holding international meetings and conferences in the field of transportation as one of the ways to identify corridors and added, communication corridors should be identified in order to use and encourage foreign customers. In order to benefit from existing situations and use new routes, holding an international conference with the presence of activists and those involved in the field of transportation can be a facilitator, because the corridors are not only economic and commercial, but the security issue is more serious and effective. When Iran does not play a role in international trade and transactions, it will face the risk of being put aside over time.
The Secretary General of the Chamber of Iran and Kuwait considered the correct use of corridors to be an income-generating factor in the field of transportation and said, the correct use of corridors can generate income to the extent that it even covers a part of oil revenues. In general, the main beneficiaries of the corridors are three categories; Transport companies, logistics and finally the owners of goods. If the government builds the basic infrastructure, the stakeholders will definitely find their interests in using the corridors. This issue is especially important in the southern ports, because they are more favorable in terms of the international crossings that are connected with it.
Barari continued to discuss the high capacity of southern ports in terms of sea trade and said, Chabahar and Makran have high capacity and if developed, they can become Iran’s transportation highway to the countries of the Persian Gulf and from there to international markets such as India.
The Deputy of International Affairs of the Transport and Logistics Federation of Iran, referring to the need to solve problems in the field of transportation, said, international transportation is a mutual procedure. Interactive discussion can be the most effective option for solving problems. For example, if we create a limit for the transport fleet of Turkey, naturally, Turkey will increase these limits for our transport fleet.
Referring to the multiplicity of responsible and decision-making institutions in the field of transport fleet and logistics, Barari said, in the field of transport, if we have a centralized center instead of a large number of regulatory institutions, things will be done more quickly and accurately and problems will be solved sooner.
He considered the development of transportation infrastructure as the reason for the progress of this field in the international arena and said, if the level of international challenges of Iran decreases, we can attract foreign capital, therefore we can quickly followed the path of growth. The development of road, rail and port infrastructure will depend on our active diplomacy.
