The British start-up CityShuttle wants to revolutionize cargo bike logistics and has presented the ePack 4, a semi-trailer concept that is scheduled to come onto the market this year. The cargo pedelec has a four cubic meter bike trailer that can hold up to 350 kilograms of payload. Two sunlight-readable 43-inch QLED screens are mounted on the sides, which can be used for advertising purposes. The entire train measures an impressive five meters in length, but at 90 centimeters wide it is suitable for cycle paths and at 1.96 meters high it is also suitable for access to underground car parks. The side door is 1.63 meters high and 68 centimeters wide.
The concept is based on a powder-coated steel frame chassis. On the chassis side, there is a double wishbone suspension on all 6 wheels, the brakes are designed specifically for cargo bikes, with 2 mm discs, braided hoses, reinforced pistons as well as discs and pads. The wheels are 20-inch forged aluminum rims with 2.6 mm wide tires. Two 250-watt motors provide chain-free and low-maintenance pedal assistance up to 25 km/h. The lighting is provided by LED lights at the front and rear, and there are also daytime running lights, indicators and brake lights and a driving sound to warn pedestrians. The company was founded in 2018 and has set itself the goal of sustainable, emission-free logistics for the last mile. The scalable solution should also be worthwhile for the user.
“My vision has always been for Cityshuttle to design and develop a range of sustainable, environmentally friendly urban transport solutions. By collaborating with innovative designers, my ambition to make these products a reality will soon become a reality,” explains founder and CEO Keith Jones.
