Referring to the transit development of Iran and Azerbaijan, Dariush Amani said, the division of work between the two countries is in this order that the Islamic Republic of Iran has built the border terminal and the Republic of Azerbaijan is also building the bridge over the Aras River in parallel.
He stated that traffic from this terminal and the bridge over the river will be completed within a year at most, and added, the construction project has just started and two neighbors on both sides of the border are determined to complete the work in a short time.
Stating that the necessary financial resources have been considered for the release of the land and the provision of the temporary site, Amani clarified, this border terminal will be built on a land of 8 hectares, which land is being acquired and prepared at the same time.
The Head of the Road Traffic and Road Transport Organization added, this project is implemented in the form of the conceptual model of Iran Rah with the aim of developing regional trade exchanges and increasing transit, and in this context, the Jolfa to Kalaleh road is also supposed to be widened.
The Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development stated that the initial contract with the contractor for improving the specifications of this 107-kilometer road is about 5 thousand billion tomans, adding: It is expected that after the construction of Aras crossing, the transit of goods will increase in the east-west route and vice versa.
