Milence has completed the first phase of its charging park in Heudebouville. The place is located 40 km south of the city of Rouen. The second phase is expected to be operational by the end of the year and will include additional loading bays and other facilities. The first Milence charging park in France is strategically located in the logistics district of the Seine-Eure metropolitan area. The well-known logistics route near the loading park, the A13, which is just four minutes away, is used by many heavy goods vehicles that travel between Paris and other important logistics centers in Normandy, such as France’s largest container port in Le Havre, but also Caen, Dieppe and Rouen.
MCS store as a perspective
The new charging park has four powerful CCS chargers at four charging bays. The well-known Milence arches mark the location of the site, which is therefore easily visible to truck drivers. There are several third-party facilities nearby, including toilet facilities and a restaurant. Milence plans to quickly transition to Megawatt Charging System (MCS) technology as soon as it becomes available.
The second phase is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year and will include additional loading bays with MCS technology. Milence will also operate the sanitary facilities such as toilets and showers and tailor them to the needs of truck drivers.
Standard charging rate of 39.90 cents
The new hub in the Seine-Eure metropolitan area and all other Milence charging parks are open to all trucks. To ensure accessibility, Milence has signed contracts with various e-Mobility Service Providers (eMSPs) in Europe. Customers can pay with cards from these providers. Further collaborations are being planned. To ensure a seamless and reliable charging process, Milence has developed an app for its customers. It allows users to easily find the nearest charging station and pay across locations.
Milence’s standard charging tariff is 39.90 cents/kWh excluding VAT and transaction costs. This charging tariff will apply to the Milence hubs in all countries in the future. The applicable tariff can be found in the app and is displayed at the charging station. All tariff changes will be communicated via the official Milence channels.
Anja van Niersen, CEO of Milence, explains: “With Heudebouville, Milence is opening its second charging park in Europe and expanding its activities to the French market. The charging park is an example of our future roadmap. Over the past two years, we have prepared extensively, developed the right technology and secured locations in 15 countries. Now we are in full rollout, and this is just the beginning. Further expansion will follow in the coming months at several locations along important logistics routes.”
About Milence
Milence is currently building a charging network for battery-electric heavy trucks and long-distance buses – regardless of the vehicle brand. At least 1,700 high-performance charging points are to be built across Europe by 2027. The first charging point went into operation in Venlo, Netherlands, in December 2023. Milence was founded in July 2022 as a joint venture between Daimler Truck, Traton and the Volvo Group with financing of 500 million euros and operates as an independent, standalone company.
