According to Total News, Mirza Ali Ghorbanpour, referring to the numerous problems of the private sector that have caused the closure of some companies and activists in this field in recent years, said, the existential philosophy of governments is to provide the necessary fields and infrastructure for the private sector to operate. In this regard, for progress in the field of transportation, the government must provide the necessary infrastructure, so that the private sector can take steps in the path of growth and excellence of the society.
The CEO of Ahang Darya Marine and Port Services Company considered the amendment of the shipping company tax law to support this sector and added, in developed countries, the government provides services to taxpayers in return for paying taxes, but in our country, there is no support from activists.
Ghorbanpour considered the use of expert forces, identification and awareness of the existing challenges and problems as the first and most important step to improve productivity and added, in prosperous and growing countries, statesmen use all their natural and human potentials with proper management. Despite the natural resources and educated manpower in Iran, significant growth can be observed in all economic fields, especially transportation and logistics, which is the basis of economic development. However, due to the inefficiencies of the managers, this task has remained fruitless and all the country’s resources have been wasted or unused. If we think about the progress of our country in all areas, we must use resources in a constructive and rational way.
He considered currency fluctuations as an obstacle to operationalize economic plans of companies and said, Currency fluctuations cause private sector managers, investors and entrepreneurs to not be able to implement economic plans and develop their activities.
The CEO of Ahang Darya Marine and Port Services Company named the target countries for trade relations and said, due to the existing sanctions, the possibility of trade relations with European countries is more limited. Currently, the basic goods of our country are supplied from Russia, Argentina, Brazil, India and non-food goods from China, United Arab Emirates.
Ghorbanpour considered saving infrastructure costs as one of the benefits of exchange rate stability and said, the lack of currency allocation, especially for the purchase and supply of basic goods such as wheat, barley, corn, soybeans and other agricultural products, causes serious problems in this field. Ships carrying these types of goods in Imam Port sometimes charge a demurrage fee for ten months to one year at the anchorage. If we consider the average cost of one day’s right to stop and delay a ship to be around 30 thousand dollars, we have to pay a figure equivalent to 450 thousand billion tomans of national wealth to foreigners and ship owners, while relying on efficient management and economic knowledge. While relying on efficient management and economic knowledge, it is possible to prevent the wastage of national capital and use it to improve the country’s needed infrastructure.
While pointing to the problem of currency transfer despite the existing sanctions, he said, the owners of foreign ships cover the expenses related to the ships in two ways; either they deposit to their representatives in Iran or they do the transfer through an INTERMEDIARY BANK. In the meantime, some countries do not allow the transfer of money due to the fear of sanctions and return it.
Ghorbanpour added, transferring money and currency in this way causes problems. For example, no fees have been deposited for the shipping agents inside the country, but the government bodies have demanded the fees related to the entry, exit and demurrage of the ships. This causes huge losses for shipping companies.
The CEO of Ahang Darya Marine and Port Services Company, referring to the need to deal with the problem of sedimentation of goods in Imam Port and Bandar Abbas, said, the sedimentation of goods in Imam Port and Bandar Abbas has various reasons, a significant part of which is attributed to the government, the related agencies, importers and exporters of goods. In many countries, the process from the time the goods arrive to the time they leave the customs warehouses is done in the shortest possible time. Unfortunately, this process is not like this in the ports of our country. It is necessary for the custodian government departments, importers and exporters to all work together so that the goods needed inside are available to the final consumer as soon as possible. In this case, we will not burden the people and consumers with the cost of stopping the ship and container.
