DAF Trucks Germany has handed over three fully electric trucks to Hellmold & Plank. The vehicles support the Hessian transport and logistics service provider in processing its orders without emissions. He uses them in local transport under the motto “I am an electric truck”.
The vehicles put into operation are two electric trucks from the LF Electric series with a summer box body and a tractor unit from the CF Electric 4×2 series. The logistics company, based in Gießen and with a fleet of 36 trucks, 18 of which are DAF vehicles, offers individual logistics services from pure general cargo shipping to partial loads and full loads in local and long-distance transport. With its commitment, Hellmold & Plank, together with its customers, would like to further complement the logistics industry’s activities in terms of sustainability.
“Fundamentally, we are firmly convinced that electric trucks can make an important contribution to reducing pollutant emissions in the regional distribution of general cargo and in the delivery of drugstores, for example. Rome was not built in a day and e-mobility in heavy-duty transport will also take time until there is complete acceptance of drivers in addition to the charging infrastructure and the training of workshop staff,” explained Peter Plank, Managing Director of Hellmold & Plank.
The logistics specialist sees the fact that DAF relies exclusively on LFP battery technology (lithium ferrophosphate) when electrifying its trucks as a major advantage. Apart from lithium, this does not contain any rare earths or conflict raw materials. These batteries are also considered to be flame-retardant. The electric trucks delivered have a gross capacity of 282 kWh for the LF Electric and 350 kWh gross for the two CF Electric.
The DAF Trucks e-mobility package also includes the complete charging infrastructure from DAF sister company Paccar Parts.
“We are very pleased about the use of the three electric DAF trucks at Hellmold & Plank. This is the perfect area of application for these vehicles, which, in addition to electrical power and range, offer further advantages due to their maneuverability and all-round visibility, especially in inner-city areas. The partnership with Hellmold & Plank is extremely professional,” explains Tim Plasberg, Head of E-Mobility at DAF Trucks Germany.
“Hellmold & Plank is undoubtedly a lighthouse company in the transition towards a more environmentally friendly transport industry,” adds Ferenz Herold, E-Mobility Manager at DAF Trucks Germany.
